Stats & Training
Attack and HP carry most of Ursaring's stat budget. Speed's the obvious dump stat. Moderately hard to find and yields 2 Attack EVs. Follows a medium-fast 1M XP curve.
In forests, it is said that there are many streams and towering trees where an URSARING gathers food. It walks through its forest collecting food every day.
Ursaring Weakness
Fighting moves hit Ursaring for super-effective damage. The upside? Ghost-type moves can't touch it at all. With 90 HP and balanced defenses, Ursaring can afford to eat a neutral hit or two.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 2x (Weak) | Fighting |
| 0x (Immune) | Ghost |
- Dark and Steel types added — Fairy does not exist yet
- Moves are Physical or Special based on type, not per move
In Emerald, Starmie's Surf hits Ursaring for 41-48%. Heracross deals 63-74% with Megahorn.

Ursaring Guide
Ursaring is meant to evolve into Ursaluna. At 500 BST, the stats aren't there for competitive play yet. Pre-evolution Pokemon rarely hold up against fully evolved threats.
In Emerald, watch for Hitmonlee (Fighting) when using Ursaring. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Only 1 weakness means fewer dedicated counters to worry about.
Guts increases Attack to 1.5× with a major status ailment. That's the one you want on Ursaring. Unnerve is the hidden ability. Niche, but it has its uses. Quick Feet works too if your team needs something different.
At base 55 Speed, it won't be moving first often. On offense, Ursaring is a physical attacker with base 130 Attack. Defensively? Enough bulk to take a hit or two. Best used as a wallbreaker.
Game Availability
Obtainable through an item-based evolution, Ursaring appears in 17 titles across 9 generations since Gold & Silver. The evolution method adds a barrier that wild-catchable Pokemon don't have.
