or evolve from Horsea (Step 1)

Seadra Guide

  • In FireRed & LeafGreen, Seadra isn't fully evolved, so it's not built for competitive play. You'll want to evolve it into Kingdra to unlock its full potential. At 440 BST, it's a stepping stone rather than a team anchor.

  • In FireRed & LeafGreen, watch for Raikou (Electric) and Venusaur (Grass) when using Seadra. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Only 2 weaknesses means fewer dedicated counters to worry about.

  • In FireRed & LeafGreen, Horsea evolves into Seadra at level 32. Seadra evolves into Kingdra while holding a Dragon Scale. Seadra is a middle-stage evolution in the Horsea line.

  • Poison Point has a 30% chance of poisoning attacking Pokémon on contact. That's the one you want on Seadra. Damp is the hidden ability. Niche, but it has its uses. Sniper works too if your team needs something different.

  • In FireRed & LeafGreen, Seadra fills the balanced role. It's a special attacker with base 95 Sp. Atk. Base 85 Speed is workable. Faster than some, slower than many.

Game Availability

Seadra has been part of the series since Red & Blue, appearing in 20 titles across all 10 generations. As a Gen 1 original, it's one of the most consistently available Pokemon in the franchise.
