Moves

Most of Raticate's flexibility comes from TMs. Same-type output runs through Hyper Beam and Skull Bash, but Ice and Water and the rest of the TM pool push it from predictable to genuinely threatening.

Raticate Guide

  • In Red & Blue, Raticate's biggest threats include Machamp (Fighting), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Only 1 weakness means fewer dedicated counters to worry about.

  • In Red & Blue, Rattata evolves into Raticate at level 20. Raticate is the fully evolved form.

  • Honestly, in Red & Blue Raticate is a tough sell at 393 BST. Plenty of stronger Normal options exist. Fun pick, not a practical one.

  • In Red & Blue, Raticate brings 393 BST to the table. C-Tier on our list: a niche pick in Red & Blue's meta. Superfang anchors the moveset.

  • Raticate is immune to Ghost moves. Free switch-in every time. Speed is the best stat at base 97. Pure Normal type with same-type attack bonus on Normal moves.

Game Availability

Available since Red & Blue, Raticate appears in 18 games spanning 10 generations. Beyond its original form, it gained an Alolan form in Generation 7.
