Don't skip the egg moves. Pachirisu picks up Bite and Covet only through breeding, and both fill gaps the natural movepool can't. STAB runs through Thunder and Thunderbolt while coverage across 8 types adds range.

Pachirisu Guide

  • In Platinum, watch for Rhydon (Ground) when using Pachirisu. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Only 1 weakness means fewer dedicated counters to worry about.

  • For Platinum, it depends on your team. Pachirisu at 405 BST isn't a powerhouse, but the Electric coverage might be exactly what you're missing.

  • In Platinum, Don't let Pachirisu's 405 base stat total fool you. Volt Absorb is what makes it tick. It punches way above its weight class. We rate it C-Tier as a pivot. Superfang with Leftovers is the standard set.

  • In Platinum, Run Volt Absorb on Pachirisu. It's the ability that defines how you build around it and the main reason it holds a competitive niche. Pachirisu also gets Run Away and Pickup, but they don't compare.

  • In Platinum, Electric typing gives Pachirisu 3 resistances. Base 95 Speed is the standout stat. 405 BST gives it a workable foundation.

Game Availability

Pachirisu first appeared in Diamond & Pearl and has been available in 12 games across 7 generations. Obtainable through wild encounters in most titles where it appears.
