Stats & Training
Raw Attack carries Kyurem's bulk more than the defenses do. Defense barely registers. But that HP pool covers for it. A near-impossible to catch Boundary Pokemon that yields 3 HP and Attack and Sp. Atk EVs on a slow 1.25M XP grind.
This legendary ice Pokémon waits for a hero to fill in the missing parts of its body with truth or ideals.
It generates a powerful, freezing energy inside itself, but its body became frozen when the energy leaked out.
Kyurem Weakness
Type-wise, Kyurem takes extra damage from Fighting, Rock, Dragon, Steel, and Fairy. Kyurem's overall bulk (125/90/90) lets it take a hit or two from most weaknesses before going down.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 2x (Weak) | Fighting, Rock, Dragon, Steel, Fairy |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Water, Electric, Grass |
In X & Y, Clefable's Moonblast hits Kyurem for 53-63%. Garchomp deals 44-52% with Earthquake.

TMs carry this one. Kyurem learns Draco Meteor and Outrage naturally for STAB, but the offensive range comes almost entirely from technical machines. Rock and Normal and beyond give it real matchup play.

How to Get Kyurem in X & Y
Kyurem Guide
In X & Y, Kyurem is a Legendary Pokemon rated B-Tier. At 660 BST, it hits hard. It excels as a pivot. Ice Beam with Leftovers is the standard set.
In X & Y, Kyurem's biggest threats include Hitmonlee (Fighting), Tyranitar (Rock), and Garchomp (Dragon), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Steel and Fairy-type attackers are also a problem. With 5 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter. Kyurem has enough bulk to absorb a hit, but don't push the matchup. Pivot to a teammate that resists.
Pressure is the go-to ability for Kyurem. It increases the PP cost of moves targetting the Pokémon by one. It's Kyurem's only ability.
Base 95 Speed is workable. Faster than some, slower than many. On offense, Kyurem is a special attacker with base 130 Sp. Atk. Defensively? Tanky enough to absorb a few hits. Best used as a pivot.
For X & Y, the core moveset is Ice Beam, Earthpower, Roost, and Substitute. Ice Beam leads at 24% usage. This set covers the pivot role with a mix of damage and utility.
