GRANBULL has a particularly well-developed lower jaw. The enormous fangs are heavy, causing the POKéMON to tip its head back for balance. Unless it is startled, it will not try to bite indiscriminately.

Granbull Weakness

Type-wise, Granbull takes extra damage from Fighting. Ghost moves do nothing thanks to a full immunity. With 90 HP and balanced defenses, Granbull can afford to eat a neutral hit or two.

Granbull Guide

  • In Ruby & Sapphire, Don't let Granbull's 450 base stat total fool you. Intimidate is what makes it tick. It punches way above its weight class. We rate it C-Tier as a wallbreaker. Bulk Up with Leftovers is the standard set.

  • In Ruby & Sapphire, Granbull's biggest threats include Machamp (Fighting), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Only 1 weakness means fewer dedicated counters to worry about.

  • In Ruby & Sapphire, Run Intimidate on Granbull. It's the ability that defines how you build around it and the main reason it holds a competitive niche. Granbull also gets Quick Feet and Rattled, but they don't compare.

  • In Ruby & Sapphire, Granbull fills the wallbreaker role. It's a physical attacker with base 120 Attack. Base 45 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go. And it's enough bulk to take a hit or two.

  • For Ruby & Sapphire, the core moveset is Bulk Up, Brickbreak, Heal Bell, and Body Slam. Bulk Up leads at 19% usage. This set covers the wallbreaker role with a mix of damage and utility.

Game Availability

Granbull first appeared in Gold & Silver and has been available in 16 games across 9 generations. Obtainable through wild encounters in most titles where it appears.
