Stats & Training
An unusually even spread gives Dewott flexibility. Sp. Atk barely edges ahead. But Defense isn't far off. Tough to catch and follows a 1.06M XP medium-slow curve. Yields 2 Sp. Atk EVs.
Strict training is how it learns its flowing double-scalchop technique.
As a result of strict training, each Dewott learns different forms for using the scalchops.
Dewott Weakness
Type-wise, Dewott takes extra damage from Electric and Grass. 4 resistances help offset the weaknesses. Just 2 weak spots to worry about, which keeps teambuilding straightforward.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 2x (Weak) | Electric, Grass |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Fire, Water, Ice, Steel |
In Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire, Magnezone threatens a KO with Thunderbolt (140-165%). Rotom's Volt Switch also KOs at 88-103%.

Partway through Oshawott's chain. Dewott still has another evolution ahead before reaching Samurott. For breeding, average hatch time with a massive partner pool via one egg group. HP has grown the most so far (+20), but there's still another 115 stats to gain in the final evolution. View every chain in the Evolution Chart.
How to Evolve
Breeding
Breed with Dewott to get Oshawott eggs using 200 partners from the Ground egg group. Notable egg moves include Air Slash, Assurance, Brine and 5 more.
Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire Dewott Best Moveset
Bulk and offense in one package. Dewott runs Leftovers for passive recovery each turn with a Lonely nature, so it survives long enough to threaten with Aqua Jet. Spread EVs and the remaining moves make it hard to safely switch into.

Breeding's the move. Air Slash and Assurance give Dewott options it can't learn any other way, and coverage across 9 types already covers a decent range on top of Hydro Pump and Aqua Tail. The egg moves push it further.

Dewott Guide
Dewott is meant to evolve into Samurott. At 413 BST, the stats aren't there for competitive play yet. Pre-evolution Pokemon rarely hold up against fully evolved threats.
In Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire, Oshawott evolves into Dewott at level 17. Dewott can evolve into Samurott and Hisuian Samurott depending on the method. Dewott is a middle-stage evolution in the Oshawott line.
Torrent is the go-to ability for Dewott. It strengthens water moves to inflict 1.5× damage at 1/3 max HP or less. Its hidden ability Shell Armor can work in specific setups.
At base 60 Speed, it won't be moving first often. On offense, Dewott is a mixed attacker with base 75 Attack and 83 Sp. Atk.
Game Availability
Dewott joined the series in Black & White and has been available in 8 titles so far. With 6 generations of appearances, it's established itself despite the later start.
