Stats & Training

You won't find a real weakness in Celebi's stat line. It's well-rounded for the Time Travel Pokemon, and what it does with that depends on moveset and items. Yields 3 HP stat exp, on a 1.06M XP medium-slow curve.

Celebi Weakness

Celebi's Psychic/Grass typing leaves it vulnerable to Bug, Fire, Ice, Poison, Flying, Ghost, and Dark. Bug hits land at 4x, so they're the biggest threat. It resists 6 types, so it can switch into a lot of moves safely. Celebi's overall bulk (100/100/100) lets it take a hit or two from most weaknesses before going down.

Moves

The level-up pool is slim, so TMs matter here. Celebi's Rock and Normal coverage and more all comes from technical machines, built on top of Future Sight and Solar Beam for same-type damage. Future Sight and Dream Eater are the payoff moves.

Celebi Guide

  • For the Gold & Silver meta, At 600 BST, Celebi is built different. We rank it A-Tier. As a Mythical Pokemon, the raw stats back up the reputation. Best used as a sweeper.

  • In Gold & Silver, watch for Scizor (Bug), Arcanine (Fire), and Lapras (Ice) when using Celebi. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Scizor is the most dangerous since Bug moves deal 4x damage. Poison, Flying, Ghost, and Dark-type attackers are also a problem. With 7 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter. Celebi has enough bulk to absorb a hit, but don't push the matchup. Pivot to a teammate that resists.

  • Celebi is a special attacker with base 100 Sp. Atk. Tanky enough to absorb a few hits, too. Speed tells the real story. Base 100 Speed lets it outrun most of the field. Fits the sweeper role.

  • For Gold & Silver, Celebi has answers, but so do you. Priority moves (Mach Punch, Aqua Jet, Ice Shard) bypass its speed. Bulky walls that resist its STAB also shut it down.

  • In Gold & Silver, Celebi is a Mythical encounter. Story-locked or postgame, depending on the version. See the Locations section for where to find it. It also appears in 15 other games across the series.

Game Availability

Introduced in Gold & Silver, Celebi shows up in 16 games across 9 generations. Mythical status keeps it locked behind events or specific story content in most appearances.
