This pitiless Pokémon commands a group of Pawniard to hound prey into immobility. It then moves in to finish the prey off.

Bisharp Weakness

Fighting, Fire, and Ground moves hit Bisharp for super-effective damage. Fighting hits land at 4x, so they're the biggest threat. The upside? Poison and Psychic-type moves can't touch it at all. With 9 resistances, the defensive profile is strong. Bisharp's physical bulk (base 100 Def) helps cushion physical weakness hits, but special attackers are the bigger threat.

Bisharp Guide

  • Bisharp is meant to evolve into Kingambit. At 490 BST, the stats aren't there for competitive play yet. Pre-evolution Pokemon rarely hold up against fully evolved threats.

  • In X & Y, watch for Machamp (Fighting), Charizard (Fire), and Swampert (Ground) when using Bisharp. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Machamp is the most dangerous since Fighting moves deal 4x damage.

  • In X & Y, Pawniard evolves into Bisharp at level 52. Bisharp evolves into Kingambit through a special method. Bisharp is a middle-stage evolution in the Pawniard line.

  • Defiant raises Attack two stages upon having any stat lowered. That's the one you want on Bisharp. Pressure is the hidden ability. Niche, but it has its uses. Inner Focus works too if your team needs something different.

  • Base 70 Speed is workable. Faster than some, slower than many. On offense, Bisharp is leaning toward the physical side (base 125 Attack). Defensively? Enough bulk to take a hit or two. Best used as a wallbreaker.

Game Availability

Bisharp joined the series in Black & White and has been available in 8 titles so far. With 6 generations of appearances, it's established itself despite the later start.
