Talonflame Evolutions
Talonflame is the final form in a three-stage chain from Fletchling through Fletchinder. Breeding this form produces Fletchling eggs (quick to hatch). Evolving from Fletchling gave Talonflame the biggest boost in Speed (+64), bringing the total to 499 stats. View every chain in the Evolution Chart.
How to Evolve
Breeding
Breed with Talonflame to get Fletchling eggs easily using 51 partners from the Flying egg group. Notable egg moves include Quick Guard, Snatch, Tailwind.
XY Talonflame Best Moveset
AbilityGale Wings gives priority to all Flying moves, and MoveBrave Bird fires 120-power priority Flying TermStab before anything in the format can respond. 81 Attack with priority outclasses every non-priority attacker because Speed becomes irrelevant. The moveset defined Gen 6 offense. S-tier through a mechanic that ignored the speed stat entirely.

Base Stats
In the fever of an exciting battle, it showers embers from the gaps between its feathers and takes to the air.
When attacking prey, it can reach speeds of up to 310 mph. It finishes its prey off with a colossal kick.
Talonflame X & Y Guide
In X & Y, Talonflame has a 499 base stat total and ranks as B-Tier: a solid option in X & Y for the right team. It works best as a pivot. Bravebird with Leftovers is the standard set.
In X & Y, watch for Rhyperior (Rock), Milotic (Water), and Jolteon (Electric) when using Talonflame. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Rhyperior is the most dangerous since Rock moves deal 4x damage. Talonflame's base 126 Speed lets it outpace many threats and strike first, which matters more than trying to tank hits.
Flame Body has a 30% chance of burning attacking Pokémon on contact. That's the one you want on Talonflame. Gale Wings is the hidden ability. Niche, but it has its uses.
In X & Y, Talonflame fills the pivot role. It's a physical attacker with base 81 Attack. Base 126 Speed lets it outrun most of the field. And it's enough bulk to take a hit or two.
In X & Y, run Bravebird, Roost, Flare Blitz, and Swords Dance on Talonflame. Bravebird is the most common pick at 0% usage. This set covers the pivot role with a mix of damage and utility.
Game Availability
Introduced in X & Y, Talonflame has appeared in 7 games across 5 generations. Later debuts mean fewer total appearances, but it's been a consistent presence since its introduction.
