Stats & Training
Raw HP carries Ting-Lu's bulk more than the defenses do. Speed barely registers. But that HP pool covers for it. A very hard to catch Ruinous Pokemon that yields 3 Defense EVs on a slow 1.25M XP grind.
The fear poured into an ancient ritual vessel has clad itself in rocks and dirt to become a Pokémon.
It slowly brings its exceedingly heavy head down upon the ground, splitting the earth open with huge fissures that run over 160 feet deep.
Ting-Lu Weakness
Ting Lu's Dark/Ground typing leaves it vulnerable to Water, Grass, Ice, Fighting, Bug, and Fairy. It shrugs off Electric and Psychic-type attacks completely. 4 resistances help offset the weaknesses. Ting Lu's physical bulk (base 125 Def) helps cushion physical weakness hits, but special attackers are the bigger threat.

Scarlet & Violet Ting-Lu Best Moveset
Sitrus Berry and Vesselofruin form the backbone. Ting Lu invests max Attack without Speed EVs to play its hazard lead role properly, and Adamant nature pushes Attack higher. Earthquake handles the heavy lifting on offense. Double STAB rounds it out.

Ting-Lu Guide
For the Scarlet & Violet meta, At 570 BST, Ting-Lu is built different. We rank it S-Tier. As a Legendary Pokemon, the raw stats back up the reputation. Best used as a tank. Earthquake with Sitrus Berry is the standard set.
In Scarlet & Violet, watch for Starmie (Water), Breloom (Grass), and Weavile (Ice) when using Ting-Lu. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Fighting, Bug, and Fairy-type attackers are also a problem. With 6 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter. Ting-Lu has enough bulk to absorb a hit, but don't push the matchup. Pivot to a teammate that resists.
Vessel Of Ruin lowers Special Attack of all Pokémon except itself. That's the one you want on Ting-Lu. It's the only ability Ting-Lu has.
Base 45 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go. On offense, Ting-Lu is a physical attacker with base 110 Attack. Defensively? Tanky enough to absorb a few hits. Best used as a tank.
For Scarlet & Violet, Ting-Lu has answers, but so do you. Status moves (Toxic, Will-O-Wisp) wear it down. Setup sweepers can use it as a boost opportunity. Special attackers bypass its physical bulk.
