Nidoqueen Guide

  • For Red & Blue, we rate Nidoqueen C-Tier: a niche pick in Red & Blue's meta. At 495 BST, the stats are spread pretty evenly. Earthquake anchors the moveset.

  • In Red & Blue, watch for Starmie (Water), Lapras (Ice), and Rhydon (Ground) when using Nidoqueen. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Psychic and Bug-type attackers are also a problem. With 5 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter.

  • Base 76 Speed is workable. Faster than some, slower than many. On offense, Nidoqueen is a physical attacker with base 82 Attack. Defensively? Enough bulk to take a hit or two.

  • In Red & Blue, run Earthquake, Thunderbolt, Blizzard, and Body Slam on Nidoqueen. Earthquake is the most common pick at 25% usage. Earthquake provides reliable STAB damage.

  • For Red & Blue, Nidoqueen has answers, but so do you. Super-effective STAB from faster Pokemon is the simplest answer. Water, Ice, and Ground-type attackers hit hardest.

Game Availability

One of the original 151, Nidoqueen has appeared in 19 games — most mainline games. From Red & Blue through the latest titles, it's rarely been left out of a regional Pokedex.
