Stats & Training
Gumshoos's spread isn't flashy. Attack leads, Speed trails, 2 stats clear the bar. Common in the wild and worth 2 Attack EVs, on a medium-fast 1M XP curve.
Once it finds signs of prey, it will patiently stake out the location, waiting until the sun goes down.
Gumshoos specializes in relentlessly tracking down prey. The simple-minded Skwovet doesn’t seem to provide Gumshoos enough challenge.
Gumshoos Weakness
Gumshoos's Normal typing leaves it vulnerable to Fighting. It shrugs off Ghost-type attacks completely. Only 1 weakness makes it relatively easy to build around defensively.

Scarlet & Violet Gumshoos Best Moveset
Gumshoos doesn't rely on pure speed. Assault Vest gives it a special bulk boost with no status moves allowed to stay healthy, and Adamant nature still pushes offense. Knock Off and the remaining moves keep the pressure on while max HP and Attack EVs balance power and survivability.

Gumshoos Guide
In Scarlet & Violet, watch for Machamp (Fighting) when using Gumshoos. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Only 1 weakness means fewer dedicated counters to worry about.
In Scarlet & Violet, Yungoos evolves into Gumshoos at level 20. Gumshoos is the fully evolved form. It sits at 418 BST in its evolved form.
For Scarlet & Violet, it depends on your team. Gumshoos at 418 BST isn't a powerhouse, but the Normal coverage might be exactly what you're missing.
In Scarlet & Violet, Don't let Gumshoos's 418 base stat total fool you. Adaptability is what makes it tick. It punches way above its weight class. We rate it C-Tier as an attacker. Knock Off with Assault Vest is the standard set.
In Scarlet & Violet, Run Adaptability on Gumshoos. It's the ability that defines how you build around it and the main reason it holds a competitive niche. Gumshoos also gets Stakeout and Strong Jaw, but they don't compare.
Game Availability
Introduced in Sun & Moon, Gumshoos has appeared in 3 games across 4 generations. Later debuts mean fewer total appearances, but it's been a consistent presence since its introduction.
