Stats & Training
Gabite's spread isn't flashy. Attack leads, Sp. Atk trails, 2 stats clear the bar. Tough to catch and worth 2 Attack EVs, on a slow 1.25M XP grind.
It loves sparkly things. It seeks treasures in caves and hoards the loot in its nest.
As it digs to expand its nest, it habitually digs up gems that it then hoards in its nest.
Gabite Weakness
Gabite is weak to Ice, Dragon, and Fairy. Watch out for Ice attacks, those deal 4x damage. On the flip side, it's immune to Electric-type moves entirely. Gabite leans offensive (base 90 Atk) rather than trying to tank its weaknesses.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 4x (Critical) | Ice |
| 2x (Weak) | Dragon, Fairy |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Fire, Poison, Rock |
| 0x (Immune) | Electric |
In Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire, Latios can KO Gabite with Draco Meteor (323-380%). Mamoswine's Ice Shard also KOs at 149-175%.

Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire Evolution
Gabite is the middle stage between Gible and Garchomp. It's a three-stage line with one more evolution to go. For breeding, takes forever to hatch with a decent partner pool via two egg groups. Speed has grown the most so far (+40), but there's still another 190 stats to gain in the final evolution. View every chain in the Evolution Chart.
How to Evolve
Breeding
Breed with Gabite to get Gible eggs easily using 50 partners from the Dragon and Monster egg groups. Notable egg moves include Body Slam, Double-Edge, Dragon Breath and 10 more.

Moves
Egg moves make a real difference. Gabite gets Body Slam and Double-Edge exclusively through breeding, filling gaps that TMs and level-up can't touch. Coverage across 8 types rounds out the picture alongside Draco Meteor and Outrage.

Gabite Guide
In Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire, Gabite isn't fully evolved, so it's not built for competitive play. You'll want to evolve it into Garchomp to unlock its full potential. At 410 BST, it's a stepping stone rather than a team anchor.
Sand Veil is the go-to ability for Gabite. It increases evasion to 1.25× during a sandstorm. Its hidden ability Rough Skin can work in specific setups.
In Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire, Gabite fills the balanced role. It's a physical attacker with base 90 Attack. Base 82 Speed is workable. Faster than some, slower than many.
Game Availability
Gabite first appeared in Diamond & Pearl and has been available in 14 games across 7 generations. Obtainable through catching or hatching as a base form in most titles where it appears.
