Stats & Training
Bulk defines Arctovish's stat line. Defense and HP anchor the defensive side, but Speed can't keep up offensively. Tough to catch and worth 2 Defense EVs.
Though it’s able to capture prey by freezing its surroundings, it has trouble eating the prey afterward because its mouth is on top of its head.
The skin on its face is impervious to attack, but breathing difficulties made this Pokémon go extinct anyway.
Arctovish Weakness
Arctovish's Water/Ice typing leaves it vulnerable to Electric, Grass, Fighting, and Rock. Water Absorb grants an additional Water immunity, reshaping the matchup chart. Arctovish's overall bulk (90/100/90) lets it take a hit or two from most weaknesses before going down.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 2x (Weak) | Electric, Grass, Fighting, Rock |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Water |
| 0.25x (Resist) | Ice |
In Sword & Shield, Rillaboom can KO Arctovish with Wood Hammer (109-129%). Cobalion's Close Combat hits Arctovish for 80-95%. Zeraora deals 39-46% with Drain Punch.

Liquidation is the safe click most turns. Choice Band locks Arctovish into it but rewards with raw power at the cost of move flexibility. Adamant nature and max HP and Attack EVs maximize that first hit. Waterabsorb helps on the margins.

Arctovish Guide
In Sword & Shield, Slush Rush changes the entire equation for Arctovish. The 505 BST doesn't tell the full story. Ranked C-Tier. Fishiousrend with Choice Band is the standard set.
Slush Rush is what you want on Arctovish. Every competitive set worth running is built with that ability in mind. The alternatives (Water Absorb, Ice Body) work on paper but Slush Rush is what makes Arctovish worth using.
At base 55 Speed, it won't be moving first often. On offense, Arctovish is a physical attacker with base 90 Attack. Defensively? Tanky enough to absorb a few hits.
In Sword & Shield, run Fishiousrend, Iciclecrash, Liquidation, and Crunch on Arctovish. Fishiousrend is the most common pick at 21% usage. Liquidation provides reliable STAB damage.
