This is our guide on breeding flowers in Animal Crossing New Horizons. In this guide, you will learn why flowers are important, how to breed flowers, and what kinds of flowers you can obtain. Flowers have been in Animal Crossing since the very beginning, in the early days they did not have much of a purpose besides being pleasant to look at.
What Can You Do With Flowers in ACNH
Flowers have some uses, but most of the time, they usually are used for decoration and to make your Island look pretty.
- Can be used in DIY Recipes
- Used to attract certain types of bugs that don’t usually spawn
- Raises the Island’s Star Rating (Your Star Rating on your Island is a ranking system on how good your town is.)
When using flowers for DIY Recipes, you will want to pick them normally, not dig them up.
How To Breed Flowers In Animal Crossing New Horizons
When beginning to breed flowers, it is important to note that it will take some time to get the exact results you want first try and that you won’t have every flower on your island and may have to go to a friend’s island to get the rest of them. In the beginning your island will only have one type of flower, to get more you will need to go on different Island Tours, or speak to Timmy and Tommy.
- Buy or find some flowers. (Nook’s Cranny, Island Tours or Leif, you can also dig up already grown flowers and plant them somewhere else.)
- Place them in an area where they are secluded from other flowers. (This helps with breeding the individual flowers you want, planting them in an X shape might get you better results than just placing them randomly next to each other.)
- Wait for them to bloom and then water them.
- Check on them the next day to see if new flowers have appeared. (If not, water them and wait until tomorrow. Repeat until you obtain the correct flower.)
That is the basics for breeding flowers, if you want a specific color or type of flower you will need to breed specific colors together to get the kind you want.
Carnations can not be purchased from Timmy and Tommy but instead are given to you from your Mother and Father on Mother’s and Father’s day, respectively.
How To Make Hybrid Flowers in ACNH
The base colors of flowers can be bred together to create an entirely new flower color. From there you can breed the new colors with old to produce more colors and so on.
